About the event
In 2021, I began hosting Seasonal Ceremonies. After several sessions, it finally feels appropriate to combine my astronomical work with my seasonal work - as they are one in the same in my heart.
We begin this series of solar celebrations with December Solstice!
In the Northern Hemisphere, December Solstice is noted by the Low Sun. The Long Night. A looming darkness which engulfs our world, much like the liminal moments between Dark & New Moon. Our Winter Solstice, as it is commonly known.
The shortage of light we experience is often reflected via a shortage of energy & spirit. The end of the year, the holiday season, etc. We’re overstimulated, exhausted, outputting at almost inhuman rates, plagued by incessant reminders to buy, create, consume.
Our celebration is not meant to be taxing or draining. If you prefer to spend the entire hour in viparita karani (though I would recommend switching postures halfway through!), you may do so! I will share thoughts on the astronomy of the moment, guide us through pranayama & meditation, and together we will light our candles to honor the Sun, and anything else in our life that deserves our well wishes. This is a restorative session, intended to connect you with the Earth, the Cosmos, and your Self.
After registering, you’ll receive the links, playlist, and a list of optional items to have on hand. If you have any questions, just send me a message.
